PROGRAM INFORMATION

Ed Psych/Instructional Learning Technologies, EDM

The Instructional and Learning Technology (ILT) program is designed for individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including K-12 educators, and training professionals from higher education, business, industry, and government agencies. Students acquire (a) specialized technology competencies to enhance their teaching, (b) technical skills to support instructional uses of technology, and (c) knowledge to organize and manage instructional technology programs.

Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered after 4:30 p.m. Students able to complete the degree program on a part-time basis (8 credit hours or less per semester).

Ranking:
The ILT program is one of the graduate programs in the College of Education at Temple. The College was ranked 15th in the nation in the most recent U.S. News and World Report ranking of graduate schools.

Topics address in coursework experiences include (a) instructional design, and theories of learning and instruction, (b) application of technology including current and emergent technologies, and (c) management, consultation and problem-solving.

Job Placement:
Graduates typically pursue careers in K-12 educational settings, as instructional technology specialists, as trainers in corporate, government or medical settings, or higher education.

Affiliation(s):
Students who wish to apply for the Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification as Instructional Technology Specialist are required to submit a portfolio of competencies that meet state standards. Instructional and Learning Technology is a partner of the Mid Atlantic Region Technology Educational Consortium (MARTEC).

Interdisciplinary Study :
A cognate area is required (9 credit hours). The program is interdisciplinary in that students can select courses from (a) programs within the same department (Psychological Studies in Education), (b) other departments within the College of Education, or (c) other Colleges and Schools throughout the University.
