0101. Principles of Career and Technical Education (3 s.h.) F S.

For novice and prospective career and technical education teachers and technical trainers. The course will include an in-depth analysis of contemporary programs in secondary and technical school settings. Emphasis will be placed on teaching and learning in workforce and vocational-technical education, and on the role of action research in influencing curricular change.

Note: Must be admitted to the teacher certification program.

0102. Teaching Strategies in career and Technical Education (3 s.h.) F S.

Development of specialized teaching strategies. Emphasis will be placed on best teaching practices, including planning for, executing, and evaluating instruction in career and technical education. Instructional technology will also be emphasized.

0103. Curriculum in Career and Technical Education (3 s.h.) F S.

Models for developing curriculum in career and technical education. The course will provide experiences with job/occupational analysis; duty and task listings; and arranging the scope and sequence of instructional and performance objectives to technical standards.

0214. Field Experience (1-6 s.h.) F S.

Evaluation of field work, including in-service education and/or technical experiences that can enhance a student's occupational specialty; strategies for connecting school and real world experiences.

0324. Cooperative Education (3 s.h.) F S.

Organization and administration of workplace learning and cooperative education programs. The course will address types of programs, character education, related instruction, content and occupational standards, evaluation, legal requirements, and student organizations.

0326. Foundations of Career and Technical Education (3 s.h.) F S.

Principles underlying career and technical and workforce education. The course will examine the origins and evolution of vocational education and include an analysis of contemporary initiatives in K-12 and post-secondary settings.

0350. Student Leadership Programs in Career and Technical Education (3 s.h.) F S.

This course will examine student organizations in career and technical education. Emphasis will be placed on student leadership and character education.

0399. Supervised Work Experience (1-6 s.h.) F S.

Practical technical experience to supplement classroom instruction. An individualized training plan for the workplace or training location is developed for each student. Staff visitations and joint supervision occurs at the placement site.
