Master's Diagnostic Examination
Required of all Master of Music degree and Master of Science degree students prior to the first semester of graduate study. Master's students may not perform graduation recitals nor take final comprehensive master's examinations until all of the diagnostic examinations have been successfully completed.

Master's Qualifying Examination
For Master's degree students majoring in Composition, Music History, Music Theory, and Music Therapy. Required upon the imminent completion of 30 semester hours of graduate study and with the approval of the major advisor. Music Therapy students should see Dr. Dileo for specific examination times. Music Studies students should contact Matthew Schillizzi to schedule an exam at least one month prior to the desired date.

Master's Graduate Listening Examination
Also known as the "100 Listening Examination," this exam is for Voice and Opera Master of Music degree students and Instrumental Performance Master of Music students. This is an Exit Exam, taken in your penultimate or final semester of master's study. This examination is offered at various times each semester. Contact Matthew Schillizzi to schedule this exam.

Doctoral Entrance Examination
Required of all entering DMA or Ph.D. students prior to or during the first semester of matriculation. All Entrance Exams must be passed or appropriate remedial coursework be in progress to register beyond the second semester of doctoral coursework.

The dates listed below are for doctoral students in Performance, Music Studies, and Music Education only. Students majoring in Music Therapy should contact Dr. Darlene Brooks at 215.204.8340 for the list of Music Therapy Entrance Examination dates.

Doctoral Preliminary Examination
Required of all DMA and Ph.D. candidates. All "Incompletes" must be resolved before you will be permitted to take these exams. Please notify Matthew Schillizzi at least one month prior to the desired exam date so your exams can be prepared by the faculty. Students majoring in Music Therapy should contact Dr. Darlene Brooks at 215.204.8340 for the list of Music Therapy Preliminary Examination dates
