Program Requirements

Required and elective courses vary depending on your chosen instrument.

Students with a concentration in Bassoon, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Euphonium, Flute,  French Horn, Harp, Oboe, Percussion, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet and Tuba may take

  • Aesthetics of Music,
  • Instrumental Ensembles and
  • Research in Music.

Students with a concentration in Cello, Double Bass, Viola  and Violin may take

  • Instrumental Ensembles,
  • Lower/Upper String Pedagogy and
  • Research in Music.

Students with a concentration in Harpsichord may take

  • Seminar in Early Keyboard Instruments,
  • Baroque Keyboard Performance Practice and
  • Research in Music.

Students with a concentration in Piano may take

  • Baroque & Classical Keyboard Performance Practice,
  • Piano Pedagogy I&II, and
  • Research in Music.

Students with a concentration in Voice may take

  • Opera Workshop,
  • Voice Major and
  • Vocal Literature.
