Registration and Licensure
Successful graduates of Temple University’s Master of Occupational Therapy program are eligible to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). You must pass the NBCOT examination to become a registered occupational therapist.
A state practice license is different than being certified by NBCOT and is required in order to practice occupational therapy a given state. Each state has different licensing requirements; for a state’s specific requirements, you must check with its specific licensing agency. You may not practice in a state where you do not have a license. Learn more about specific licensure requirements as determined by individual states.
A felony conviction may affect your ability to take the certification exam or attain a state license. For more information, contact NBCOT.
