Admissions Information

The Health Information Management program has a separate admissions process from other undergraduate degrees. Students apply to the program in their sophomore year from the Pre-HIM (Health Information Management) program, other Temple undergraduate programs or from other institutions.

Program Selectivity

Temple’s Health Information Management program is nationally renowned and highly competitive. Classes are small (roughly 40 students annually).

Students may not apply until their sophomore year and are admitted for their junior year. They should have a GPA of at least 2.8 and have successfully completed all or most of their prerequisite courses, including

  • two semesters of Human Anatomy and Physiology;
  • Medical Terminology;
  • Health Information Management IT Fundamentals;
  • Elements of Statistics or Social Statistics;
  • Computers and Applications (or successfully pass the Competency Exam); and
  • Politics and Payments in U.S. Healthcare System.
