Labs & Research

The College of Engineering strongly encourages and welcomes undergraduate student participation in research activities that help you to put theory into practice. You'll also be able gain an appreciation of the research process through the guidance of our accessible faculty.

The college has cutting-edge labs and equipment for our nearly 70 full-time faculty who conducted almost $5 million in research last year and are funded by organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Defense, the American Heart Association, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and many others.

Research Funding

In 2016, the National Science Foundation placed the university among the top 100 in terms of research expenditures, which amounted to $242 million. Learn more about the university’s research support efforts.
