Suggestions For Making Revisions Based On Your Professor's Comments 1. If you don't understand the comments on your paper, ask your professor. Some people have illegible handwriting, but they are usually willing to translate it for you. Other times, your professor might suggest a revision that you are unsure how to do. Ask your professor for more specific instructions. 2.Go to the Writing Center. Writing Center tutors are trained to help students interpret assignments and teachers' comments. A tutor may be able to help you figure out what your professor is asking you to do. 3. Give yourself enough time. Try not to leave your revision until the night before it is due. You don't want to accidentally forget to finish something 4. Be complete. Try to address all the comments your professor has made on your paper. In particular, remember to tackle more than just the small changes your professor has marked throughout the text of your paper. Read the summary comment at the end of the paper to see if your professor has identified larger issues to be addressed. If you choose not to take one of your professor's suggestions, you might consider attaching a note that explains your reasoning. This way, your professor knows that you paid attention to the comment, even if you ultimately chose to take another approach. |
