Women's Studies B.A. Requirements
At the core of Women's Studies is an examination of the social, historical, and cultural roots of gender identity and gender equality and inequality.

Major Requirements
12 courses are required for the major: 1-3 lower level courses, 1 core course (Essential Issues in Women's Studies 1301), 6-8 upper level electives, and a two-course sequence (Field Work & Research Seminar4389).
Minor Requirements
7 courses are required for the minor: 1 core course (Essential Issues in Women's Studies 1301) and 6 electives, at least 3 of which must be at the upper level.
Distinction in Major
Women's Studies students may graduate with a distinction in the major if they have a GPA of 3.5 or better in Women's Studies, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and successfully complete an honors thesis (3 credits) under the supervision of a faculty member from Women's Studies.
Certification of Specialization
The Certificate of Specialization is designed for students outside the College of Liberal Arts who want to pursue a Women's Studies-oriented career. 4 courses are required for the certificate: Intro to Women's Studies, Field Work, and 2 electives, at least one of which must be at the upper level.
