Database Connection

Click here for information on how to use SQL Server Enterprise Manager to connect to a database on Temple's Network.

NOTE: Using MS Access to connect to a SQL database is limited to basic functionality. Computer Services recommends using SQL Enterpise Manger for full functionality. Visit Computer Business Services website for purchaing information.
(Software Name: SQL Server 2000 Developer's Edition)

To make a connection to a database on DBSERVER.TEMPLE.EDU using MS Access 2003 perform the following tasks.

Open MS Access 2003 from
Start --> All Programs --> Microsoft Office --> Microsoft Access 2003

Click File --> New --> Project using existing data


Give the project a name and make sure it has a .adp extension.

Setup your connection to the DBSERVER by entering the following information in the Data Link Properties dialog box.

1. Select or enter a server name: DBSERVER.TEMPLE.EDU
2. Username: Provided by webmaster
    Password:  Provided by Webmaster
3. Select the database on the server: Select you database from     drop down menu.

Test the connection. If it is successful click "OK".
