Tools for Student Teams

Here are some student team resources for you and your students.  These materials are adapted from the book Using Student teams in the Classroom (by Ruth Federman Stein and Sandra Hurd), from Sandra Hurd's July 18, 2001 presentation at our annual faculty development workshop.

  • Presentational Speaking and Team Survey:  a quick and easy way to assess your students' experiences and perceptions of presentational speaking and group work.  This is a great tool to use early in the semester before embarking on a group assignment.
  • Team Member Contact List : a form students can use to exchange contact information with fellow group members.
  • Team Profiles : a useful exercise as a class discussion topic or writing prompt to help students consider different types of group members.
  • Team Report : a form that each group can complete to describe a team meeting session.  This is a useful tool to help students evaluate how a group is functioning.
  • Team Self-Analysis :a good tool to help individual group members assess their contributions to the team.
  • Final Evaluation of Contribution to the Team Project :a form for individual team members to evaluate their teammates at the end of the group assignment.  This is scored and returned to the team.
  • Spaces Places:  a guide to indoor and outdoor spaces on or near campus where student teams can meet.
