On June 20-21, 2005, the Center sponsored a conference on the Vietnam/American War. The conference featured internationally renowned scholars, writers, and diplomats. Topics included the historiography of the war, the social history of the ARVN and the Vietnamese middle class, recent documentary evidence, alternative explanations for U.S. Vietnam policy, peace initiatives, and outstanding questions from both the American and Vietnamese perspectives. The conference was co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy and the Henry Luce Foundation. For further information contact Philip Alperson.
