The Urban Rhythms Project is dedicated to discovering, supporting, and publishing the myriad of voices that make up the urban experience. More than just an exercise in writing, UR also attempts to provide its readers with the training and tools necessary to use writing in as a way to impact their schools, community, and neighborhoods. Published twice a year, our on-line journal showcases the work of these writers for use in public school classroom, community centers, and individual homes.
The UR Project is the product of an alliance among the Institute for the Study of Literature, Literacy, and Culture, Teachers for a Democratic Culture, New City Press, and numerous Philadelphia public schools.
