Congratulations on your acceptance to Temple University!
You’re In!
We couldn't be more excited to welcome you into our Class of 2016 as a new Temple Owl! Below are the "next steps" to take as an admitted student for Fall 2012.
1. Join TUPORTAL
If you haven't already, make sure to register on TUPORTAL. You would have received an email invitation on how to join . If you have not received the email invite or deleted it in error, please click here. You will need to join TUPORTAL in order to pay your deposits.
2. Attend one of our Experience Temple events for admitted students
Once you have received your admission decision, you can schedule for Experience Temple through TUportal. You'll also receive an invitation in the mail!
3. Submit your FAFSA application by the March 1st deadline
Visit Student Financial Services for more information.
4. Choose Temple!
To reserve your place in the Fall 2012 entering class, you must submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $200.If you would like to request a room in University Housing as well, combine both deposits and submit one payment of $450. We encourage you to deposit by May 1, or within two weeks if you were admitted after April 15 as housing is first -come, first -served.
You can pay the deposit in one of two ways:
- Use TUpay for online credit card or bank debit transactions by logging on to tuportal.temple.edu and reviewing information provided under the "Welcome" tab.
- Return the Enrollment Deposit Form included in your acceptance package with a personal check or money order made payable to Temple University.
5. Request a room in University Housing
If you would like a room in University Housing, you must
first submit the $200 tuition deposit, as well as the $250
housing deposit. Students will have the ability to self-book
their own housing and meal plan via the Student Web
Self-Assign (SWSA) system, available in MyHousing, only accessible
through TUportal. Details pertaining to the annual Housing Selection
Process are available in early January. You will be able to complete
your self-booking and select preferences within 24 hours of your
housing deposit payment being recorded by the Bursar’s Office. You
must submit the housing deposit and book your own housing to be
assured a space in University Housing. After you select your desired
room and meal plan in SWSA, you can view your selections
in MyHousing by looking at the Room Self-Service and MyMeal
Plan links.
Students are notified after housing deposits are recorded via their
personal e-mails with regards to specific steps and updates about this
process, so please check your e-mail regularly. For students interested
in one of Temple University’s sponsored Living Learning Communities,
please visit the University Housing and Residential Life web site at
www.temple.edu/housing to learn more about programs and specific
application requirements.
Since housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served
basis, the earlier you submit a deposit and complete the booking
process, the better your chances are to receive your preferred
accommodations. Although demand is great and no guarantees can
be made, new freshmen who submit the deposit and complete the
self-booking process (as space is available) prior to May 1 generally
receive a housing assignment. Students can continue to submit
deposits in late spring and summer, however options will be limited
until early depositing freshmen and transfers have been accommodated.
Students with later deposits are generally encouraged to
work with the Office of Off-Campus Living to learn more about
housing resources local to campus. If you submit a deposit and do
not book housing, your $250 deposit will be refunded. During the
summer, you will be notified of check-in procedures via your Temple
University e-mail account. You will also receive a letter and information
packet.
More information is available at www.temple.edu/housing.
6. Attend summer orientation and register for classes
Your new student orientation is designed to assist in your transition and get your college career off to a great start! New student orientation programs are offered throughout the summer months, giving you plenty of time to plan your summer. Separate Parent and Family orientations will also be available throughout the summer.
Information regarding orientation will be mailed from the Office of Orientation once your deposit have been paid, beginning of April.
