Temple University's Rome Program, with
its outstanding faculty, staff, and facilities
attracts students from colleges and universities
throughout the country and universities
throughout the country and abroad. This
program offers you an extraordinary opportunity
to live, work, and study in one of the
most important cities in the history of
Western civilization. Since 1966, the Villa
Caproni has served as the center of European
education for Temple University's Rome
Program. It is located near the Piazza
del Popolo overlooking the Tiber River.
Fully equipped studios, academic classrooms,
a library, and an art gallery are housed
in the villa. The Program offers courses
of study in painting, drawing, graphic
design, printmaking, photography, sculpture,
art history, and liberal arts. Courses
and field trips introduce you to the cultural
heritage of Rome; from ancient antiquity
through the Medieval, Renaissance, and
Baroque periods up to the contemporary
Italian art scene. Field trips outside
of Rome to such cities as Florence, Venice,
Naples, Pompeii, and Siena are also an
important part of the curriculum. Juniors,
seniors, and graduate students are accepted
into the program. Tyler juniors accepted
into the program may remain one or two
semesters. Seniors are required to return
to the Tyler Campus for their final semester
prior to graduation. Graduate students
can elect to spend either their first or
second year on the Rome campus. Tyler also
offers a summer program on the Rome campus.
