Keith Morrison is an artist, curator, art critic, art educator, and former dean. His paintings and prints have been collected and exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. He work has had many solo exhibitions including several in NYC, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, and San Francisco. His work has been exhibited at the American Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution; the Art Institute of Chicago; the deYoung Museum; the Bronx Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Corcoran Gallery of Art; the Cincinnati Museum of Art, the High Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the National Gallery of Jamaica. Morrison has exhibited in several international biennials, including the Venice Biennale, the Caribbean Biennale and the Havana Biennale. Is work has been shown has shown in many countries, including Canada, China, Britain, France, Mexico, Japan, Liberia, Nigeria, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Yugoslavia. He is author of many catalogues, including Art in Washington and Its Afro-American Presence: 1940-1970. He has curated exhibitions for many galleries and museums across the US and in other countries. He has contributed essays to books, and has written many articles in journals, periodicals, and for art museums across the US and abroad. He has curated many exhibitions across the US, and curated or co-curated international exhibitions in countries such as Cuba, Jamaica, and Taiwan. Among the awards/grants Morrison has received are a Fulbright, a Ford Foundation award; a Danforth Foundation award; the Organization of African Unity Award; Chicago Bicentennial Award for Painting; and National Fellowship of Education award He has held the rank of professor and served as dean at several art schools and universities, including DePaul University, the University of Illinois, Chicago; the University of Maryland; San Francisco State university; the San Francisco Art Institute and the Tyler School of Art. He was a Visiting Distinguished Professor of Art at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While he was an administrator he earned millions of dollars in gifts and grants. Keith Morrison also represented the USA as cultural envoy and art critic to the 2008 Shanghai Biennale.
