Who wants tea? To me, this is not just a question. It is an opportunity for all my family to come together, to share the day’s joys and disappointments in a ritual that restores and rejuvenates.
Through the ages, tea has brought people together-from Chinese and Japanese tea ceremonies to the English custom of afternoon tea. My work explores these rich relationships between tea and tea drinkers by blending both the past with the present and artistic form with function. The organic, yet sleek, lines of my tea pots, teacups and tea sets evoke not only the meditative but also the playful, interactive aspects of tea drinking.
I invite the user of my tea ware to display it, arrange and rearrange it, to discover the new and to find comfort in the familiar.
