Aritst Statement

There is a subtle push-pull to acts of violence. An assault is often preceded by seduction, that the attacker may draw the unsuspecting victim close in order to ensure the devestation of the final blow. The well versed fighter is balanced like a ball teetering on a razor's edge...the slightest shift causes a slight vector adjustment, a change so tenuous that it almost seems internal.

I explore these state-shifts, these changes in direction and intention, trying to mimic the way in which an expert combatant can force their opponent, without even seeming to try, to overbalance, misjudge, and become trapped within their own misunderstandings.

Through the use of borderline contraband material, the tradition of craft and questionable imagery, my work aims to investigate the notion versus the reality of violence . I embrace the storytelling mode and use its allegorical power, utilizing it in creating my own crystalline, faceted style.
