Artist Statement
Process. Solution. Make. Recently, I made some forward progress on a project
that seemed to be losing its momentum. There was a particular moment when
I knew it was going in a direction I didn’t envision. I realized I was trying to force
a solution to happen and not allowing for the criteria to design one. For me, a
solution is designed when all the research and prior discoveries help reveal the
answer for a project. It’s similar to seeing a figure in a block of Marble before
chipping away. With the proper tools and information I work toward the finish,
taking away the elements that block the complete idea. It is then when I can
say that a project is fulfilling and successful for both myself, the client and/or
audience. Something exciting sits within a wonderful solution.
