Artist Statement

For me, art making is a means of questioning the complexities of contemporary society while examining my own participation therein. From simple observations to genuine anxieties, from moments of intense inspiration to those of complete boredom, I am drawn to unexpected juxtaposition—dichotomies that encapsulate a personal and cultural perspective. I work without pre-determined formula, employing varying style and media as I see fit for a given situation or idea. This allows for a wide range of ideas and subject matter, reflecting the full spectrum of experience and the ever-shifting mind and sentiment of this bemused modern American. In presentation, I utilize juxtaposition of divergent images and ideas to reflect both the scattered, entropic nature of the modern mind and the fractured reality that emerges from a daily influx of information and visual consumption.
