Artist Statement
Far from being my first passion, graphic design is, rather, the culmination of everything I most enjoy doing in my creative life. Design, at its best, incorporates research, problem solving, writing, wit, humor and sarcasm, along with any number of different artistic media. In short, this is the only field I’ve found that I believe can sustain my attention indefinitely.
As with all art, inspiration in design can come from anywhere; thus, one can use “research” as justification for taking trips, buying toys, seeing movies, reading books, participating in events, and so on. Furthermore, things that might be somehow incriminating or embarrassing can also be procured in the almighty name of research. In this way, my work essentially validates my every whim. Thanks, graphic design!
Love, Katie
