Artist Statement

I have always been involved in making things. First it was Crafts (such as jewelry), then Photography and finally Graphic Design. The important thing about this medium is that it encompasses everything. I use my crafts and my photography in my Graphic Design work, and my most recent interest, illustration. My work starts with a concept, next I research inspiration and then the sketches on paper lead me to my product.

Although, I do not have a traditional background in art, I feel like my experiences add to my design work. Woven through all my pieces are the things most important to me: humor, travel, the environment and history. Most of my design inspirations come from my love for vintage design such as Victorian design and designs of the fifties. Graphic Design has opened me up to seeing everything as art. I look at every billboard, sign and shopping tag now.
