Artist Statement
A More Fashionable Disaster
My work investigates the landscape in contemporary painting through a formal exploration of space, color and materiality. The paintings arrive at a place between nature and artifice for the purpose of reassessing human perception, particularly the act of looking. The environment immediately connected to me inspires this work; whether through physical objects, the printed image or digital projection, ideas are translated into an abstract space that creates a tension that is representative of both evolution and destruction.
