Artist Statement

I am essentially arranging things. People arrange things all the time, sometimes consciously and sometimes absentmindedly. Most art practices involve arranging things in space, time, or both, but mine is centered on this activity. My things are arranged utilizing an acute visual sensitivity developed over years of formal artistic training, and extensive professional experience involving the organization of interior residential spaces. Over time I have observed arrangements based on various considerations. These have ranged from practical reasons like the most efficient use of space to purely aesthetic reasons, like the most visually pleasing configuration of things. My art production takes special consideration for the way that non-arrangement-specialists, or civilians, handle the placement of things in their daily lives.

This is more than just a starting point for me but not quite an end in itself, especially considering all of the political and social implications that arrangements can entail.
