Elisha Conrad Artist Statement 1. Through a process of combining photography, digital printing, delicate cutouts, collage, and traditional printmaking processes, I create images that frequently reference interior spaces including the home. 2. My unashamed love for kitsch, craft, and ornate decoration is both revered and exploited. 3. I intend for my work to simultaneously question and reinforce an appreciation for things I deem beautiful. 4. I strive to capture a sense of my personal history, often through narratives and a buildup of layered imagery that make references to nostalgia and the domestic. 5. These vignettes that are being delicately and subtly illustrated revolve around themes including emptiness, isolation, unmet expectations, death, and joy. . www.elishaconrad.com Curriculum Vitae Education May 2008 Tyler School of Art, Elkins Park, PA MFA, Printmaking 2004 University of Georgia, Athens, GA BFA, Printmaking, Honors Graduate Honors/Awards 2008 Academic Internship, Tyler, Spring Semester 2007 Academic Internship, Tyler, Spring Semester 2006 Academic Internship, Tyler, Fall Semester 2004 Presidential Scholar, UGA, Spring Semester 2003 Presidential Scholar, UGA, Fall Semester Dean’s List, UGA Spring Semester 2002 Presidential Scholar, UGA Spring Semester 2001 Dean’s List, UGA Fall Semester Solo Exhibitions 2005 The Grit, Athens GA 2004 BFA Exit Exhibition, UGA Five Star Day Café, Athens GA 2003 The Grit, Athens GA Selected Group Exhibitions 2008 “New Faces” City Hall Philadelphia, PA 2007 1st Year MFA Exhibition, Tyler School of Art Tyler School of Art Group Exhibition at Lincoln University, Lincoln, UK 2006 The Lowery Gallery, Danielsville, GA, titled “Pigs” 2005 Annual Printmaking Exhibition, UGA 2004 Annual Printmaking Exhibition, UGA 2004 The Grit, Athens GA “Come Walk With Me” The Lowery Gallery, Danielsville, GA, 2003 The Grit, Athens GA Work Related Experience 2008 Tyler School of Art Continuing Education Department, Elkins Park, PA, Weekend Workshop, teacher of record 2007 Tyler School of Art Continuing Education Department, Elkins Park, PA, Weekend Workshop, teacher of record Liberty Resources, Philadelphia PA, Non- Toxic Printmaking Methods Class, teacher of record
