Joseph Borelli

Artist Statement

I make art that I find humorous and in doing so, I pursue the purest form of mindless witticism I can imagine. I embrace the sheer ridiculousness of the objects that I make and the origins from which they are derived. In truth, my work is about having fun in a world that is filled with too many distractions.
I am currently creating pink-foam sculptures of grotesquely, muscularly deformed action-figures, while using nothing more than my imagination and a kitchen knife. Well, that’s the start anyway. My work is a reaction to the negative, both externally and internally: a small reminder to laugh.
