Applicants to
the BFA program must complete the online
Temple University application as well as the
Tyler-specific admissions requirements. The
online Temple application is found at the
Temple Admissions website:

You must
arrange to send the following materials
directly to the Temple University
Undergraduate Admissions Office:
- Official high school transcripts and
SAT or ACT scores
- Official college transcripts for all
colleges attended (transfer students)
- Official A.P. test scores sent
directly from ETS (where applicable)
At the same time that you send the above
materials to Temple Undergraduate
Admissions, you must send the following
materials to the Tyler School of Art
Admissions Office, 7725 Penrose Avenue,
Elkins Park, PA 19027:

Checklist for Undergraduate Admissions
- Statement of Purpose
All freshman and transfer BFA applicants
must submit a separate sheet containing a
brief written statement of purpose.
Describe your aspirations, goals, and/or
why you are choosing art as a discipline.
Write clearly, concisely, and legibly.
This may be typewritten.
- Self Portrait
All freshman and transfer applicants must
execute one drawing specifically for Tyler
as an essential part of the application.
The self-portrait should be drawn in
pencil, on 8 l/2" x 11" paper from a
mirror reflection. The self-portrait
should be an original drawing and should
not be matted or framed. This drawing is
not considered part of your portfolio, but
it is required as part of your application
for Tyler. This drawing will not be
returned.
- Unofficial College transcripts
(transfer applicants or freshmen with some
college credits)
- Slides or a CD-ROM and a
self-addressed stamped envelope for the
return of the slides or CD (for transfer
applicants, freshman applicants living at
a considerable distance from Tyler, or
applicants for scholarship consideration)
