Computer Services Memorandum

From: Ken Ihrer, Chief Information Security Officer
Date:

Subject:
Advance Notice of TUsecure Initiative

Computer Services will soon be deploying a new security initiative called TUsecure. This project was initiated to better protect each Temple computer user and to simplify the login process for accessing various academic and administrative systems. You will be notified shortly on how to transition to TUsecure. I am alerting you in advance of the upcoming notification so you do not disregard the message thinking it may be a phishing scam.

When TUsecure is officially unveiled, you will be required to perform
two actions:

1. Change your password.

TUsecure will require you to create a new and stronger password. The newpassword must be complex enough to ensure it cannot be easily guessed byan unauthorized user or cracked by a malicious program.  No one at Temple is asking for your password, and you can tell the site is legitimate by making sure that accounts.temple.edu is displayed in the browser address bar.

To change your password, you will go to the TUsecure Account Management web site, https://accounts.temple.edu.

2. Choose security questions.

TUsecure will also require you to choose three security questions and provide an answer for each. In the event that you forget your password,
these security questions will enable you to reset it by going to
https://accounts.temple.edu.

In order to log in to most academic and administrative systems, you will use your new TUsecure password.

You will receive a separate e-mail notification requesting that you to create your TUsecure password at https://accounts.temple.edu. When you receive this e-mail, please proceed to the web site and change your password and answer the security questions. If you do not create your TUsecure password by June 2, 2008, your current password will expire an you will then be required to change it.

Best Regards,
