Academic Advising

Non-Matriculated Students
It is not necessary to apply and be admitted to degree program in order to register for credit courses. Non-matriculated students take courses for professional development, personal enrichment, or eventual application to a Temple University degree program. Visiting students from other colleges or universities are also non-matriculated. To learn more about taking courses as a non-matriculated student, please contact the TUCC Advising Coordinator. Office hours are scheduled so that you can meet with an adviser during your lunch hour or after work. You can also discuss transfer options and career-related topics.

TUCC advising is made more convenient with the online (virtual) option, Webex -- a web-based conferencing software that you can easily access without establishing an account. To schedule a virtual advising appointment, just send an e-mail message to tuccadv@temple.edu and request an appointment time. We look forward to meeting with you online.

 

Matriculated Students
Students who have applied and been admitted to a degree program at Temple University are matriculated. Academic advisers from the following schools and colleges hold regular office hours at TUCC for matriculated students. All other matriculated students should contact their department or Dean's office for advising instructions.

If you are a matriculated student in a program that is not listed above, TUCC's Advising Coordinator can produce your most recent DARS document (Degree Audit Report System) and help you read it. Please call (215) 204-4358 to make an appointment.

 

Bicycles

Several bicycle racks are available for student use on the 15th Street and plaza sides of the building. Bicycles are NOT permitted in the building. Bicycle locks are available for purchase at the TUCC bookstore.

 

Bookstore

The bookstore is located on the 3rd floor. In addition to textbooks, it offers magazines, school supplies, light snacks, soft drinks and Temple merchandise. Call 215-204-1514 for more information about specific items

Computer Lab

Using a computer or accessing library information is as easy as a trip to the Computer and Media Services Center. The staff will assist you in using mainframe and personal computers or in conducting library research in the Scholars Information Center (SIC). It is also possible to establish an e-mail account, buy language tapes, and obtain audio-visual materials through the Center. Call 215-204-1521 for more information.

Food

Vending Machines
Vending machines are located in the lounge area on the 2nd floor and in the cafe areas on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. There is a vending machine for coffee in the 5th floor cafe area. Call 215-204-7271 if there is a problem with the machines.

 

Food and cold drinks may also be purchased at the Temple Center City Bookstore on the 3rd floor.

 

Information Kiosks

Information kiosks located in suite 215 allow you to obtain information from Temple websites. Currently enrolled students can use OWLnet to access records and process registration and payment transactions.

 

Internet Access

Wireless internet access is available throughout the TUCC campus. In addition, there are Ethernet connections and power outlets around the perimeter of all lounge and cafe areas. Please note that you must first register the IP address of your laptop with Media Services before you can take advantage of this service. Registration forms are available in room 404. Lounge and Cafe Areas

Lounge and cafe areas are located on all floors and provide good places to relax or study.

 

Parking

As a service to our students, TUCC has negotiated discount parking rates at several nearby locations. TUCC has no business relationship with these parking companies and does not play any role in making their policies. The discount rate is only available to students.

Parking validation is available at the security desk in the ground floor lobby area of TUCC during the following hours:

A photocopy machine for student use is located in the cafe area on the fourth floor. Call 215-204-7271 if there is a problem with the machine.

 

Public Phone

A public pay phone is located in the lounge area on the 2nd floor.

 

Security

Your safety is important to us. In order to better ensure that people in the building are her for legitimate reasons, all persons entering TUCC will be asked to show some form of photo identification, Temple ID, driver's license, employee ID card or passport. It is recommended that you carry your Temple ID card with you. It will be necessary to validate your discount parking.

 

Student ID Cards

Credit students registering for the first time can have a Temple photo ID card made during the hours listed below. Students who have lost their photo ID card can obtain a replacement card for a $20 fee. Call 215-204-8822 for more information.
