Purpose:
The General Assembly of Temple Student Government serves as a student base to represent the students and their academic, economic, political, and social concerns.
Membership:
The membership of Temple Student Government includes any student that is a “sworn in” Representative, Administrating Officer, or sits on any committees which serve the student body. No member of TSG can represent or make decisions affecting TSG unless empowered by the General Assembly By-Laws. All Students enrolled and attending Temple University have the right and responsibility to be active in Temple Student Government. However, only “sworn in” members have the right to vote on legislative bills.
Types of Membership:
Organizational Representative
Each registered student organization must send one Representative to the General Assembly to represent the concerns of the organization.
Representative At-Large
These Representatives will have a seat on General Assembly via the appointment of the Speaker and the approval of the General Assembly.
University Representatives
There can be up to 14 University Representatives who are popularly elected in an election held by TSG. At least 4 of these seats are reserved for graduate / professional students.
Collegial Representatives
Each school or college should have its own student governance organization with its own offices representing all students of the school or college. Each of these governance organizations are allowed to send one Collegial Representative to the General Assembly.
Campus Representatives
These are Representatives from TUCC, Ambler, Health Sciences Center, and Tyler who are popularly elected at the time of their campus elections. Each campus is permitted to have at most 2 representatives.
Applications for membership are available in the TSG office, located in the Student Center, room 244.
