Certificate Requirements and Course Offerings



Step 1. Seminar in Teaching in Higher Education (3 credits; typically course number 8985)

The seminar synthesizes theory and research on teaching in higher education as they both relate to practice. Topics include Research on Learning and Adult Development, Integrated Course Design, Best Teaching and Assessment Practices. Assignments include developing a statement of teaching philosophy, and a syllabus, informed by research‐based design principles. The seminar is a prerequisite for the topics course.
