Project EDIT is a collaborative effort of Temple’s Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and Disability Resources and Services (DRS) on a fundamental goal common to both: to foster teaching that meets all students’ needs and maximizes their success. Funded by the Verizon Foundation, Project EDIT brings together fifteen Temple faculty members from eight different schools. During the 2009-2010 academic year, this cohort is exploring approaches to course design, teaching, and assessment that both respond to and take advantage of the unique configuration of challenges, skills, and perspectives each student brings to the classroom. Drawing on the many dimensions of diversity present within their own group, Project EDIT faculty both learn and teach as they attend workshops, share strategies, observe one another’s classes, and analyze their own assumptions and practices. Through their ongoing efforts to create a learning environment that is accessible and engaging for every student, participants will also emerge from their Project EDIT experience as resources for colleagues throughout the university. The Project EDIT Coordinator is Amy Weigand.
