Self-Determination: A Way to Get Power, Choice and Control in Your Life
This training is an introduction to Self-Determination. It offers a brief history of the Self-Determination movement, and describes the principles of Self-Determination and Everyday Lives. We offer information about some of the tools and supports associated with Self-Determination and how to teach everyone to lead a self-determined life. We discuss ways in which we can promote Self-Determination in our own lives, in the community, and in the Mental Retardation System.
About Partnership Trainings
Each FREE training module is two hours in length. Resource materials are provided to each family free of charge, and all participants receive handouts and a certificate of completion for each presentation. We offer Act 48 credits and some reimbursement, such as mileage and child care to families upon request. All Partnership curricula are available in alternate formats upon request. Request for alternate formats should be made two weeks before the scheduled training.
