Participant-Directed Services

Based upon the principles of self-determination, Participant-Directed Services (PDS) offer an alternative to how supports are traditionally provided in the ID/MR System. You and your family member(s) gain more control over services and supports when you are directly involved in hiring and managing your support staff. In this session, we describe the models of support and services available through the ID/MR System for people who choose to self-direct using Financial Management Services—Agency With Choice or Vendor Fiscal/Employer Agent. We also outline the rights and responsibilities involved in self-direction. (3 hours)

About Partnership Trainings

Each FREE training module is two hours in length (unless otherwise noted). Resource materials are provided to each family free of charge, and all participants receive handouts and a certificate of completion for each presentation. We offer Act 48 credits and some reimbursement, such as mileage and child care to families upon request. All Partnership curricula are available in alternate formats upon request. Request for alternate formats should be made two weeks before the scheduled training.
