Bureau of Autism Services Special Edition October 2011 Newsletter includes a comprehensive overview of the recent Pennsylvania Autism Needs Assessment study BAS conducted through the Eastern ASERT, the largest study of its kind in the nation, with a focus on the service needs of individuals with autism and their families and caregivers. The newsletter also includes important information about BAS programs, the redesigned Virtual Training and Resource Center (VTC), and upcoming training opportunities.
Act 62 mandates insurance coverage of the "treatment of autism spectrum disorders," and defines that term to include "medically necessary pharmacy care, psychiatric care, psychological care, rehabilitative care and therapeutic care" prescribed and provided in accordance with Act 62.
