Museum is Dental School's crowning achievement


This Victorian dental office, complete with operatory from pre-electrical years and tools of the time, is one of the many features at the recently opened museum.

With items like a bucket full of real human teeth and all sorts of bizarre—and painful looking—tools to extract teeth, most people might be afraid to visit the School of Dentistry’s third floor.

But once you get past the shock factor, you realize that the Dr. and Mrs. Edwin Weaver III Historical Dental Museum at Temple’s dental school is actually a celebration of how far dentistry has come in the last century.

“I think this is a great thing to create because we can share the history of dentistry with people so they appreciate how painless it is now,” said Susan Howell, curator for the museum, which opened earlier this month...more

Softball team springs into success
