Ambler joins statewide recycling contest

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Deputy Secretary Eric Thumma, at the podium, praised Ambler’s participation in the statewide recycling initiative.

Each Pennsylvanian generates five pounds of trash every day, according to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Much of that trash, however, can be recycled, saving natural resources, reducing pollution and avoiding the unnecessary use of landfills.

In an effort to increase the amount of recyclable material collected in Pennsylvania, Temple University Ambler has joined the DEP’s first “Rush to Recycle Challenge.”

DEP Deputy Secretary Eric Thumma and the DEP’s “Pennsylvania Recycling Team” visited Ambler earlier this month to kick off the challenge, which will run through November 30.
