Midnight Madness starts Friday,
Oct. 13

Starting at 6 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 13, a block party at the Liacouras Center will lead up to the opening of the 2006–07 basketball season for Temple’s men’s and women’s teams.

“This is the perfect way to tip off the season,” Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw said.

“There is a lot of excitement around both programs heading into the season, and this will be a great way for our fans to meet and greet the coaches and players.”

From 6 to 11 p.m., the block party will feature live music, a barbecue and games.

At 11 p.m., the doors will open to fans, and coaches Dawn Staley and Fran Dunphy will introduce their teams and answer questions.

Afterward, the night will feature 3-point and half-court shooting contests, interactive basketball drills and a picture and autograph session, as well as the Temple Pep Band, Hooter the Owl, the Temple Cheerleaders and the Diamond Gems Dance Team.

A raffle held before and during the event will benefit the Dawn Staley Foundation and Coaches vs. Cancer.

Season tickets for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are currently on sale.

Call the Temple ticket office at 215-204-8499. Go to www.owlsports.com to see the teams’ complete 2006-07 schedules.
