The School of Dentistry recently dedicated the Dr. John and Joan H. Ballots Preclinical Laboratory in recognition of the Ballots’ generous scholarship support of Temple dental students.
Before dental students work with real patients, they spend two years practicing with plastic teeth, jaw and head mannequins to perfect basic dental skills in the preclinical laboratory.
Joan Ballots, a Temple University trustee, is a member of the Dentistry School’s board of visitors and a graduate of Temple’s Teacher’s College (now the College of Education).
John Ballots, her late husband, played basketball for Temple, where he received a bachelor’s and master’s degrees before going to dental school at Temple, from which he graduated in 1957.
