Temple University Physicians appoints new officers
Edward Kushmerek has been appointed chief executive officer of Temple University Physicians (TUP), a group of approximately 400 full-time and part-time faculty members of the Temple University School of Medicine. These 400 physicians practice in 17 academic departments and include virtually every subspecialty in modern medicine.
Kushmerek brings extensive academic clinical practice operations experience, having most recently served as executive director of the Practice Plan affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Additionally, he has held the positions of chief operating officer at the University of Chicago Practice Plan (600 physicians), and prior to that held the positions of president, executive director, and chief operating officer for its 125-physician multi-specialty group practice at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, Mass.
Robert McNamara, M.D., professor and chair of emergency medicine at Temple University School of Medicine and Hospital, has been appointed chief medical officer of TUP.
McNamara received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and performed an emergency medicine residency at Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in emergency medicine and a past president of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
