Greet Temple's new students
as a Welcome Week volunteer Aug. 24-Sept. 1
When more than 6,000 new students arrive on campus in just five weeks, they will be greeted with a full week of events to acquaint them with Temple – everything from dodge ball and barbeques to a 20-foot banana split.
From Aug. 24 to Sept. 1, the first Welcome Week celebration will include events on Main Campus as well as the Ambler and Tyler campuses.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to get in on the fun and help welcome a new class to the Temple community by volunteering to help welcome students or by sponsoring their own events. Visit the Welcome Week Web site to browse the robust schedule of activities that needs your involvement and support.
Organized by the Division of Student Affairs, Welcome Week aims to foster a sense of belonging and ease students’ academic and social acclimation to the University. Highlights include an undergraduate research exhibit, first yearbook meetings, film and photo exhibits and buses to South Philadelphia for shopping.
In addition, Temple will host its first University Convocation for freshmen and transfer students on Sunday, Aug. 27, to mark their transition to higher education with a traditional academic ceremony.
