Student’s guide to football at Temple

If you like top-flight college football, you’ll like Temple’s challenging 2005 schedule.

Eight of the Owls’ opponents played in bowl games last season.

Seven of Temple’s games will be broadcast live on television, the second most in program history.

Temple athletics is offering Wild Cherry student passes this year. For $50, students get guaranteed free access to lower-level seating at all Temple home football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games in special student sections, as well as eligibility to win prizes every game, a Wild Cherry T-shirt and priority access to road game transportation options (students can get free tickets with their Student Confirmation Cards, but without any of the perks). Wild Cherry student passes can be purchased at the Liacouras Center box office.

On home game days, Temple will be running buses to the team’s home venue, Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia, starting two hours before kickoff. Buses will pick up students at the Student Center, the 1300 residence hall and Johnson-Hardwick, then return to drop them off at the same locations after the game.

Another option is to ride SEPTA’s Broad Street subway south to Pattison Avenue, the line’s last stop, which drops passengers off at the stadium complex.

When you get to the stadium complex, join the fun at the Owls Nest tailgate area, located in lot E in the Wachovia Center parking lot, across the street from the Linc. You’ll find music, food, nonalcoholic drinks, inflatable games, face painters, prize giveaways and more.

The athletics department is also seeking student volunteers to assist with game-day promotions and other duties.

For more information, contact the Liacouras Center box office at 215-204-5040 or klyko@temple.edu.
