When acclaimed photojournalist Salvatore C. DiMarco Jr. joined the staff of the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin as an intern in 1967, he was 20 years old and still completing his bachelor’s degree at the School of Communications and Theater.
He was chief photographer for the Bulletin when it ceased publication in 1982, and he went on to a successful freelance career.
DiMarco appeared in many of the world’s leading magazines and served corporate clients such as Eastman Kodak Co., Leica Camera and Time magazine before his death in 2004.
Photographs taken by DiMarco and Gilbert J. Tucker, another longtime Philadelphia Evening Bulletin photojournalist, will be exhibited in Paley Library from May 3 to June 30, on the main floor and in the ground floor lecture hall.
The photos are taken from Temple University Libraries’ extensive Philadelphia Evening Bulletin collection, part of the Urban Archives.
