Leadership is a key concept at The Fox School of Business and Management, and on April 11, the school honored several of its own who have put that concept into action.
Fox graduates Sondra L. Barbour, vice president of operations and chief information officer for Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems and Solutions, and Niraj Patel, executive vice president and CIO for GMAC Commercial Holding Corp., were recognized at the fifth annual Fox Information Technology Awards.
“This event showcases Fox’s longstanding commitment to integrative business technology education through both our management information systems department and our Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute, ” said M. Moshe Porat, dean of The Fox School.
“Despite the economic downtown, we believe the future of business is integrated with the growth of information technology, which will enhance productivity. So through these programs, we integrate information technology into all aspects of our teaching, learning and research.”
Barbour received the Fox Information Technology Award for Distinguished Alumni in recognition of her distinguished career in information technology and for her contribution to Temple University. The Fox Information Technology Innovator Award was awarded to Patel for applying IT to create business opportunities.
The awards also recognized faculty, staff and student excellence. Ozgur Turetken, assistant professor of management information systems, was honored with the Faculty Leadership Award; and Deborah Riley, an administrator in The Fox School Dean’s Office, received the Administrative Leadership award.
The Information Technology Awards were sponsored by The Fox School’s management information systems department, its Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute and the Association for Computing Machinery in partnership with TechWORKS Foundation.
