Founder's Dinner

On Saturday, April 2, women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley will be among four Temple employees and alumni whose accomplishments and contributions will be recognized at the General Alumni Association's annual Founder's Dinner, held this year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Staley will receive the Russell H. Conwell Award, given for service that reflects the spirit of Temple's founder. Since 1997, Staley has shown her commitment to the Philadelphia community by supporting and encouraging at-risk youth through the Dawn Staley Foundation.

The Stauffer Faculty Award will be presented to longtime faculty member Howard J. Palamarchuk, director of sports medicine and assistant professor in the department of podiatric orthopedics at the School of Podiatric Medicine.

Alumnus Donald W. Ewart will receive the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. He has served as president of the Alumni Boards of Directors of both the College of Education and the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance.   He recently served for four years as the president of the General Alumni Association and currently chairs the Board of Visitors of the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance.

Frank T. and Roslyn S. Romanoski, both Temple graduates, will be awarded the F. Eugene Dixon Jr. Inspiration Award for their strong support of Temple athletics over the past three decades.

Two alumni, WPVI Action News Team members Cathy Gandolfo and David Murphy, will be the evening's presenters.

In addition, 17 Certificate of Honor Awards will be presented on behalf of Temple's schools and colleges. This year's recipients are:

Edward P. Mockus Jr., School of Tourism and Hospitality Management

Jane G. Pepper, Ambler College

Francesco M. Russo, College of Engineering

Robert Z. Shuman Jr., Tyler School of Art

Stuart A. Wesbury Jr., School of Pharmacy

Arthur Alan Wolk, Beasley School of Law

The silver   ('80) and gold ('55) anniversary classes will also be recognized during the reunion weekend. The classes' April 3 luncheon will include tickets to the Temple Jazz Band's Kimmel Center Concert at 3 p.m.
