Can you paint it on a wall?
Students from Tyler School of Art, including Tara Huber, a foundations student at Tyler (right), returned to campus from winter break a day early to brighten the main stairway at Sheridan Elementary School in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Under the direction of Tyler assistant professor Sam Fritch, 10 Tyler students recreated colorful scenes from classic Dr. Seuss books, including Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax and The Cat in the Hat. The mural begins in the basement and winds along the staircase to the second floor. The students volunteered their time as part of the Martin Luther King National Day of Service. This is the third year that Tyler students have participated in the project.
Students welcomed back with Taste of Philly
On Jan. 18, the Office of Student Activities welcomed students back to campus and sweetened the start of classes with Taste of Philly in the Student Center atrium. Students were treated to traditional Philly pretzels, Tastykakes and other foods, sports and entertainment.
