Summer Academy

“By targeting professional fields important to the Philadelphia area’s economy, the Summer Academies provide an opportunity for some of your very best students to embark on a college path ultimately either at Temple or elsewhere that will eventually take them into these professions, hopefully in our region.”

— Peter R. Jones, Ph.D.

Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies

Overview:

Temple offers several unique summer college-credit educational experiences for our region’s academically talented high school seniors. These Summer Academies introduce students to the academic experience, career-related resources and other opportunities at Temple University and in the Philadelphia area. The academies include Business Leadership, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Molecular Life Sciences and Sustainable Environments. Class size is limited to encourage student engagement.

Students chosen will:

  • Complete, for credit, an undergraduate-level course taught by a Temple University faculty member during the university’s second summer session;
  • Experience the world of work through a series of co-curricular trips to local organizations that need well-prepared employees within the field of the academy;
  • Participate in career workshops that provide a closer look at the field of the academy;
  • Put theory into practice by designing a project and presenting findings at a culminating event.
