Fulbright Grant Information Guide
Sample Essays
To help give you a sense of some of the elements that should be included in the Statement of Purpose, a sample of essays written by successful Fulbright candidates follows. I have included essays from students with varying academic backgrounds and levels.
You shouldn’t think of these as templates upon which to base your essay. Rather, they provide a good example of the kind of specificity that is required in your proposals. Note also that in some cases, these may not be the final essays that were submitted with the application; often proposals are further refined following submission to International Programs and before they are sent on to New York. But they do provide you with a general sense of the components that should be included in your proposal.
