1. Who can apply to become a member of TUEMS?
TUEMS is a student organization at Temple University, because of this only students or employees of the Temple University can join TUEMS.
2. When does TUEMS operate?
Currently, TUEMS operates Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 7:30pm to 3:30am. As of spring semester 2011, TUEMS also operates during the day on Thursday’s starting at 11:30am and continuing on to the night shift.
3. I am not sure what I would need to do to become certified as an FR or EMT.

4. I am an EMT from a different state, can I still join TUEMS?Yes, you can still join TUEMS but you will need to apply for Reciprocity through the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health by contacting the Philadelphia Regional EMS Council at 215-685-4219.
5. What are the requirements for members of TUEMS?
· be (or become) trained/certified as at least a First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
· Take a IPMBA (International Police Mountain Bike Association) class conducted by TUPD
· 16 hours of ER shadowing at Temple University Hospital Emergency Department conducted through TUEMS
· meet a 2 shift per month minimum duty requirement
· attend training and general membership meetings
6. What is the estimated weekly time commitment?
There is no weekly time commitment. BUT we do ask our members to run 16 hours a month, which translates into 2 eight hour shifts a month.
7. When is the next course to obtain either the First Responder or EMT cert.?
Classes to become a First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) are offered through an outside company that comes and conducts classes on Temple University’s Main Campus. Visit their website: www.iceems.com or contact us for more info.
