[Internship Interviews]
Name- Kaitlin Ziminski
Firm you interned with- PricewaterhouseCoopers
Internship Dates- June 2008 – August 2008
Line of Service of Internship- Assurance (Internal Audit)
What were things you did on a day-to-day basis? Throughout the internship I was on an engagement at Shire Pharmaceuticals. It was nice to be staffed on the same engagement for the whole summer because I was able to see the engagement from start to finish. If I was in the office, I would take online trainings and help other full-time associates with work they had.
What were some of your responsibilities? My responsibilities as an intern could be compared to a first year associate. While staffed on engagements, I was given the work of a first year such as performing SOX testing, preparing control matrices, and preparing the binders.
What was your favorite part of the internship? My favorite part of the internship was my week of training in New York City. I was so much fun to spend the week with the other interns in the city and go out after trainings.
What were some of your expectations going into the internship? My expectations for the internship were to learn more about the culture of the firm in order to see if I fit in there. I also wanted to experience as much full-time associate work as possible. By doing so, I would be able to tell if this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
Did the internship meet your expectations? The internship exceeded my expectations!
What was your first day like? My first day was a bit overwhelming because I had to travel to New York City for training. After getting to NYC, I felt information overload too. However, everyone at the firm made sure the interns felt welcome and answered all of the questions we had. The rest of the week in NYC was great!
What about your last day? My last day with the firm we had a celebration at the Westin for those interns who received full-time offers. The firm did a great job of making us feel recognized by inviting our mentors/coaches to the celebration as well as high status partners.
Do you still keep in contact with people you worked with? I still keep in contact with many of the interns which is nice because we will all be working together once we start full-time. I also keep in touch with many of the full-time associate that I worked with over the summer.
